If you're starting out in the world of Marketing on the internet, it can be a very challenging experience as there are literally hundreds of 1000s of various programs as well as products you can choose from. You sometimes find yourself shelling out a lot of money trying out all the numerous get rich quick strategies.

Quite often, once you have invested in program, you find that you quickly get information overload or maybe that the program doesn't really deliver on its claims.

So, what exactly should you look for when selecting a website marketing program and what things should you avoid?

A few of the things to watch out for are:

1. Unrealistic statements about how much money you can make earn. Many courses claim you can actually earn thousands of dollars with a few minutes work. That old adage saying if “something seems to good to be true, then it probably is”, definitely applies in this case. Whilst there can be the occasional product where you get lucky and possibly generate some dollars immediately, a lot of those systems will usually count on passing trends and are not sustainable in the long run.

2. Numerous upsells. There are thousands of marketing solutions out there that claim to be entire systems, however when you purchase them, you're offered “once in a life time offers” for some alternative solution. This is called an upsell and is a very common technique for a lot of the more ambitious marketers. You need to ask yourself, if the original product is so great, why do you require each one of these extra solutions?

3. Any support? The thing you don't want when you have paid your hard earned dollars is to be left in the lurch with no support. It doesn't matter how good a product is, you want to make certain it has some type of guarantee of support if you ever encounter any problems or have any kind of queries.

4. Good reputation. Generally a simple Google lookup can be extremely revealing in relation to whether the certain course and the person providing the program is actually trustworthy. However, as always 'Caveat Emptor' applies, so check a well known forum where you are able to trust the replies of the people posting there.

What points should you look out for?

1. A person that's been around for some time and has built up a great reputation.

2. Previous products? Normally, this is the best pointer as to just how much you can trust the person and/or system they're selling. If they have delivered a very good product in the past that clients ended up being really happy with, then there's a decent chance that their other products are going to be every bit as good.

So, when you are starting out and about to commit hard earned cash, use a mixture of due dilligence and evaluation.

That coupled with the help of a great mentor, will help make your online business a great success.

I know it's been a long time since I last wrote. I know that, not because of the number of days passed but by looking at my journal....wow, its been busy.

To summarize, I have worked for a friend in hospitality in Paris (oui, Paris) for a 6 Nations Rugby match, which was heaven. The stadium Stade de Francais is amazing but no where as beautiful as our own Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. I have kicked off another blog site: www.howtobethebestparent.com and intend to work that niche going forward. I have become an affiliate for Namecheap, Bluehost & The 100 Day Challenge. I have being adding banners and html characters 'till the cows come home.

I also have been on holiday, my first in 18 months. I had 7 outstanding days skiing in France. I can't tell you how fantastic it was to see my children ski for the very 1st time and how much I enjoyed being with all the time. They are all so special (I would say that wouldn't I?)

Also, Easter Bunny arrived a little bit late noting the distance he travelled back from France . Enough said just in case there are young viewers reading this!

Since being home, I have been a hive of activity. Substantial catch up on my day job and getting back into IM swing again. Whilst I was away, I have received some great feedback on the eBook so, if you haven't had a chance to download it yet, do so as soon as possible. My Twitter account also grew whilst I was away...this is weird don't you think??

Also, got some great news whilst I was away. Alex Jeffreys is launching a new coaching course so I am eager for others to benefit from his excellent coaching. Honesty time, I am an affiliate but would thoroughly recommend him anyway. How else would a numbskull like me be on the right path thus far? He is offering a free eBook to preview the coaching. Get it free here:

https://www.marketingwithyou.infusionsoft.com/go/gurun/joefizz/

If you decide to invest, best money you'll spend this year!

Finally, a neat thing happened the other night. I was on the Warrior Forum looking at the internet topics. I found 2 Newbies who were having trouble with 'stuff'. Their questions were simple and second nature to me now, but to them starting out, it was a nightmare & a minefield. That 'help' generated 4 downloads of my eBook, so remember the phrase 'you reap what you sow'!

Good luck my friends.

Joe

Hey there y'all,

I started the previous blog with OMG. Well multiply that by 100 times and then again by another 100. The last 2 weeks has been full on. I have been accused of keeping an internet widow in the house, which on reflection is true. Sorry Dot!

The only excuse I can offer is that I wanted to completely immerse myself in Alex's great coaching. The problem I faced was not being a natural IT boffin (that I thought I was), so have worked immensely hard catching up. I was delighted to have completed all the homwork (early), so thought I could enhance my blog page by adding further plug-ins etc.

Got to the point last week (still in the office at 7pm on Friday night) where I had just completed my last update and whollop, my blog page just disappeared!!! you know vanished...properly gone! I thought that it must be stuck or something..but the evening became a full day, the day became the whole weekend. Zip, zero, zilch, nada, dim! My thoughts began to turn black.

At this point, Alex's teaching jumped into my head again re failing forward. Yes, I had messed up again (I say again), but was confident that there was someone out there who could help (although my web guy was beat). I got going on a couple of forum's. From the fire storm emerged a real hero Jason Ser (thank you sooo much!) who suggested amongst other things that the plugins may be at fault. Indeed one was and was duly termintated.

The re-emergence of my web site was like a phoenix rising from the ashes! It was a beautiful vision. Yes, I had to re-do a lot of the stuff that I'd lost but was happy doing them because I had another chance. I also was quicker now, knew what I was doing and avoided the wrong stuff. It inspired me even higher because I am further down the line on html knowledge now.

The drawback was no video blog, which this was meant to be. However watch this space.

Completed Module 5 of Alex's training last night. 2 1/2 hours of heaven. Alex you make it feel so easy!

The second point is my book. we did 2 lots of editing on the weekend, which technically makes the book complete now. So, I had some frineds who recommended a Publisher who had handled Jordan's last book (no, I am not well connected). He gave me the details of a niche publisher in west Wales (my home) to contact. Unfortunately, they weren't taking on titles at the moment (how silly is that without even looking at the book, I may be a male version of J K Rowling....), so technically is that my first rejection (I am told that only 1 in 100 books make it, so don't have any high expectations). I asked for her recommendation on another publisher on this niche area and she suggested one not too far from her.

So I wrote a lovely summary (183 words - short for me) and emailed it over......

Watch this space!

Never have I been so committed to making this whole, exciting experience work!

I have set a target of 2000 followers by the end of March on my blog. That looks like silly numbers in a short time, but hey at this point I am certainly reaching for the stars!

Why not come with me?

To our success..
